SOFTWARE - these are program that make a computer run. They tell the computer what to do.

* The hardware needs the software to be useful; the software needs the hardware to run.

*When a user needs something to be done. He/ she gives instruction to the computer.

* This instructions need to be written in a language that is readily understood by the computer.

MACHINE LANGUAGE

it is readily understood by microprocessors, but it is different to write for human programmers.

LANGUAGE TRANSLATOR

to convert that program into machine language.

What is System Software?

OPERATING SYSTEM (OS) - control the internal functions of a computer. It interacts directly with the computer hardware.

MAC OPERATING SYSTEM - GUI, graphics
